THE VOW

Life after life after life
Amida sits making his Vow.
Here by the Memling statue
I feel it grasping me now.

He could drift into nirvana
But wants to focus on me.
We get one shot, Subhuti -
Lee Oswald had two or three.

I’m saved – for another day.
The dustbin lorry is there,
Winking its orange lights
And driving away my care.
