6 Courses as Treasures we Found

Zo ongeveer ieder jaar sinds de oprichting verzorgde Shitoku en zijn ploeg cursussen: zowel over algemeen boeddhistische topics (geschiedenis, filosofie, literatuur, iconografie) als over de Jodo Shinshu traditie (Shinran Shonin, filosofie en mystiek, Shōshinge, Kyōgyōshinshō, Tannishō, …). Nu nog wordt dit materiaal gebruikt voor cursussen in het centrum en o.a. op de Faculteit voor Vergelijkende Godsdienstwetenschappen.

From the very start and almost every year, Shitoku and his team organized courses: about general Buddhist topics (history, philosophy, literature, iconography) as well as about the Jodo Shinshu tradition (Shinran Shonin, philosophy en mysticism, Shōshinge, Kyōgyōshinshō, Tannishō, …). Even up until today these materials are used for lectures in the centre and at other places, i.e. the Faculty for Comparative Study of Religions.

De laatste jaren vullen specifieke topics (zoals de rol van de vrouw in boeddhisme, of Japan: cultuur & religie) deze reeks aan, en engageren we vaker gastsprekers uit andere scholen. Daarnaast gaan jaarlijks een tweetal studiedagen door.

During the more recent years specific topics are added to this list (like the role of the woman in Buddhism, or Japan: culture & religion), and we engage more often guest speakers from other schools. We also organize two study meetings each year.

Hiermee beschikt onze sangha over aardig wat documentatiemateriaal, in de loop der jaren opgebouwd. We plannen [nog meer van] dit materiaal via publicatie op onze website beschikbaar te stellen voor iedereen.

Thus, our sangha disposes of lots of documentation materials, brought together in the course of the years. We plan to make [still more of] it available for the general audience through publication on our website.
