9 Extra activities

Al snel benutte onze stichter Shitoku zijn netwerk om ook internationale meetings te organiseren: in 1980 de eerste European Shin Conference en in 1986 de 4de. Zo vierden ook bijna 50 deelnemers uit wel 8 landen het 10-jarig bestaan van jikōji.

Very soon already our founder Shitoku utilized its network to organize international meetings also: in 1980 the First European Shin Conference, and in 1986 the fourth. The celebration of 10 year jikōji was joined by almost 50 participants from 8 countries.

Hij nam ook initiatieven i.v.m. de voorganger van de huidige BUB (Boeddhistische Unie van België), diverse nationale en internationale (studie-)groepen voor o.a. interconfessionele ontmoetingen.

He also took initiatives concerning the predecessor of the current BUB (Buddhist Union of Belgium), several national and international (study-) groups for i.e. inter denominational meetings.

We vermelden uiteraard ook graag het kwartaalblad Ekō dat in 2009 eveneens zijn 32ste jaargang ingaat.

Of course, we gladly mention that the quarterly magazine Ekō also reaches its 32nd volume in 2009.

De tempel stond open voor heel veel bezoekers: leerlingen en studenten, volwassenengroepen, collega’s uit boeddhistische sangha’s – men kon er zelfs overnachten in de beginjaren!

The temple always was open to so many visitors: pupils and students, adult groups, colleagues from other Buddhist sangha’s – during the first years you could even stay overnight!
